Howdy Everyone,
Today Megan asked us to create a 'Zoom out Challenge' using google slides. We were supposed to choose a theme (E.g Animals, School objects, Kitchen utensils, etc) and either go outside and take photos or search google for images. I choose to do it by myself, and choose the theme 'Animals'.
Please watch the slideshow, then answer the quiz below. Let me know your score in the comments! Good luck :)

Copper Park Zoo
Hiya,
I'm back with another post. Today, Megan asked us to create a baby animal zoo! I decided to make mine on google slides- I'll put the link below. I used A tiger cub, red pandas, baby toucans, baby rabbits, baby guinea pigs, baby giraffes, baby turtles and a baby hedgehog. Let me know in the comments what you'd put in your baby zoo- maybe make one and link it?
Navigating the slideshow: Simple wait for it to load, then click once onto the second slide. Once you're there, click on whichever sign you'd like to visit, then be transported to the 'enclosure'! When you've finished the video, feel free to go back to slide two and visit the others!
See you next week,
Annelise :)

Adverb Start Sentences
Hello,
Today we've been learning about adverb start sentences- Well, for the year eights, it was re-visiting- and Megan asked us to put a few examples on our blog, so here they are!
An adverb start sentence is an easy way to make a sentence more interesting. Creating them is simple, you add an adverb at the start of the sentence- make sure it's got an 'Ly' ending) place a comma, and finish your sentence. That's it! Done!
Here are my examples:
Annually, the market crammed itself into the tiny town square.
Awkwardly, Lena stepped forward.
Silently, he slid through the crowd, weaving between children and adults alike.
Suddenly, the light snapped off.
Strangely, Jesper didn't seem worried.
Lazily, Nina sank into an overstuffed red velvet armchair.
Cheerfully, Anna laughed.
Beautifully, her dark hair spilled over her shoulders like ink.
Absentmindedly, Ash's pencil flowed over the paper, spilling seemingly effortless drawings from the tip.
Carefully, Hazel set the succulent down.
See you,
Annelise :)

The View from my Lockdown Window
Hiya,
I'm back for my first week from school- Megan asked us to create a 'window into our lockdown'. I assumed that meant I had to find a window and put a few of the things I'd been doing in this time.
Some of these are: Drawing, chatting on google hangouts, reading on my kindle, cuddling my cat, watching Anime (My Hero Academia), waling Skoota, biking, writing, cooking (yes, I made that exact pizza recipe), baking, cuddling my guinea pig and drawing mandalas with chalk outside.
Hope you guys are doing okay, maybe make your own one, post it to your blog and link it in the comments!
Cya,
Annelise :)

Daily Writing Challenges
Hey everyone,
Each week , Megan has asked us to do some daily writing challenges. She sets them for most of the class, but I asked if I could something a little more challenging and she obliged, giving my some work for her year 10's. Below is a link to the slideshow I put together with my writing challenges. Please give me feedback, I'd love to know what i can improve on!
Thank you so much for taking the time in your day to have a look at my learning-I really appreciate it.

Learning from Home
Hiya,
I'm back with another post! Today, Megan asked us to post about our experience from working at home, so mine is below. Enjoy!
As you probably know, I'm a year 8 at Ōtaki College, so it won't affect me as much as other students who are preparing for exams. In one way, I've enjoyed learning from home -speakers blasting, doodling paper nearby- One of the reasons I've enjoyed it so much is simply having to manager yourself. If your brain has decided to shut off for a bit, you have the option to take a break, you can eat when you like and for as long as you like (snacks and work, I've found, are a great combination). In the social aspect, I found it really challenging. I'm a very social person, so yes, I struggled a little with being unable to meet up and hang out with my friends. Zoom meetings aren't the same as taking the dogs out for a walk, or going to ride Ali (Jett's horse). One of the things which I became very grateful for was simply my family. We've gotten to know each other way better throughout this pandemic, and that's great. As for objects which have helped, my kindle has been my child. If you're not sure what a kindle is, its basically a mini tablet for reading. You can purchase books on it, and the books are half the price, (Frost blood, an awesome book, was $1.19) Books go on sale often, and you can follow authors for updates on release dates, sales, new books and more! I got my kindle paperwhite for Christmas last year, and I'll upload a pic below, I bought a cover for it.
So yeah. That's my experience from lockdown, let me know what your's was like in the comments!

If I was a superhero...
If I was A superhero...
Hi everyone :)
Today Megan asked us about superpowers. We had to watch a Ted-Ed video about Super strength, and if it was scientifically possible- and if it would be a good thing. If I woke up with 1,000 times my strength, I'd struggle to stroke my cat, or guinea pig, or dog. It'd be difficult to say in the least not to crush every pencil you pick up, everything would be a struggle.
If I was a superhero, I'd have the power to change shape. Not size, but into animals or objects. I think this would be awesome, as people often wish to fly or breath underwater, but why not have both and a whole lot in between?
This is my comic- you can make one too! Just click this link, its free and easy to use.
Let me know what you think in the comments, and if you could be a superhero, what would be your power?
