Two days ago,we went to the Otaki Gorge trip. MNL was split in half, I went on Wednesday and the other half went on Thursday.
First, we split into our groups and went to collect dry wood for a campfire, which spluttered and choked before roaring to life. A few people had marshmallows, so we toasted them. I had three, while others had about seven, but I didn't mind.
Then we went on a five minute walk to a clearing in the forest, before we set up survival shelters out of tarps and rope.
After that, we made rafts (we tied a bunch of sticks together, and lost.... but okay).
Overall, I had tons of fun and I hope everyone else did too.

Hi everyone! Its me, Annelise with another chapter of Discovery, which is in a series I'm yet to write called Elementals. If you haven't read the others, go read them, because it won't make any sense aaaaaand it'll annoy me. And you. So yeah.
Enjoy!
Three-Emma Chinni
Then something leapt from the shadows, sharp teeth aimed at my throat.
I screamed, and a wall of… wait, was that water? Morphed in front of me, and the
creature slammed into it with a heavy thump. It looked like some kind of werewolf,
only werewolves didn’t exist. Says the girl who is studying Light and Charmspeak, I
told myself. A girl stepped out from the shadows, her coffee-brown hair pulled into two
dutch braids, wearing baby blue pajamas. “Not today, wolf.” She said, her golden eyes
blazing. The creature snarled, leaping at her. “HELP!” I screamed. “HELP US!!”

Watery armour formed around the girl, and the wolf thing slid off her. She made a
water lasso, (how that was possible, I had to idea), and caught the animal. She looked
at me, and the water in front of me melted away. “Uh…” I said. “Um. So. Uh.”

She raised an eyebrow. “What?”
“What are you doing here?!” I exploded. “It’s the middle of the night!”
“I could ask the same to you.” She pointed out. “Also, you probably just woke up
everyone in the school. They’re aren’t going to be impressed.”

The wolf lunged at her, and raked at her face. She yelped and threw up her arms
to protect herself. Blood bloomed along her skinny forearms. “Go away!” I yelled
at the creature. “Leave us alone, or I swear…” I let the comment fade, pushing as
much charmspeak into my words as possible. “Get out of here.” I told it. “And never
return.”

The werewolf whimpered and ran away, it tail between its legs. The girl looked at me,
arching a long, thin eyebrow. “Uh, thanks.” She pulled herself into a sitting position,
wincing in pain.

“You’re welcome.” I said. “Are you okay?” It seemed like a stupid question, as the girl
was clearly was in not okay. “Uh, yeah. Well, maybe not, “ She hefted her blood-coated
arms,”But I will be in a sec. Hand me the first aid pack, will you?”

El Rancho
A couple of days ago, we went to El Rancho by bus. By we I mean MNL and a few other classes, so the groups were mixed. I was with Alexandra, Eloudie, Adejah and a few boys who's names I don't remember (Sorry).
Our first activity was Go Karting, I was excited, I loved doing these kinds of things! I did worry a bit when one of the karts broke down, but I went in the yellow one anyway, grinning as I drove around the track.
Our second activity was RIFLE FIRING! I was so excited for this one, I'd never fired a rife before! We walked down a hill to the shooting range, it turned out there were five targets for us to shoot down a long metal tunnel. I was a bit worried, what if I hit someone? But the feelings of doubt dissipated as soon as I made it to the small hut. We walked inside and were asked to sit on a wooden bench by two teens, both male and looking about eighteen. One introduced himself as Joshua from Costa Rica, the other was Tom from Germany. Adejah was jittery with excitement throughout the safety rules, and so was I, but I knew I'd be fine, we couldn't shoot someone, and anyway, we weren't even shooting. We would fire the air rifle, with pellets, not shoot it with bullets.
Eventually, It was my turn, so I stood and walked to to Joshua. "You ready?" He asked, handing my the safety glasses. "If you want an honest answer, no."
He grinned. "Good one. "
I smiled and followed along with how to fire it well and how to aim. I took aim and shoot down the long, metal tunnel and grinned. The green pig from 'Angry Birds' was swinging from side to side, I'd actually hit something! I pulled the safety button out, thus make the weapon impossible to fire or shoot unless you pushed it back in. I reloaded the rifle and shoot another two times. We went again a few times, then it was time for our hour long lunch.
I sat with Alex ( Alexandra's nickname), Eloudie, Kate and Adejah. We ate our lunch, chatting, then went and jumped the life out of one of the trampolines. When the bell sounded, telling us lunch was over, I went to Megan (my teacher and group leader) and asked what our next activity was. "kayaking." She replied, then noticed the grin spreading across my face. "I'm guessing you'll enjoy it?"
I nodded, and I wasn't lying. I loved the feeling of making powerful strokes through the murky water, and I did have an awesome time.
The ride home was uneventful, apart from when the boys started playing music from a Bluetooth speaker and singing with tuneless voices, but I laughed and joined in.
Hi everyone! Here are some photos Megan and other people took on the trip. Have an awesome day.

Communication Presentation
Hi everyone!
This week in Homeroom, Megan had made two Multi-media text set, which has links to Youtube videos and articles around a subject. We've been learning about Tuia 250, so Megan let us chose between Communication and Discovery, two interesting subjects. I chose Communication, here is my presentation.
Enjoy!
